After a bit more time we started to check out another section of the field, more eastward, that seemed to have some ATV trails heading into the woods. Here we were able to find some appreciable subhedral-anhedral sphalerite (ZnS) crystals, along with our first finds of yellow fluorite (color caused by bitumen inclusions). I also clearly remember that the trail, heading into the woods, where we had our best luck with sphalerites was also home to quite a lot of "hitchhikers" that managed to affix themselves to our pants! After some lunch, we headed a short walk southward to an open area that seemed to have a couple of narrow ridges of piled up material. It was here that we started to find even more yellow fluorites, including our prize find (2nd picture) that was a floater cluster of euhedral-subhedral cubes. Not long after that, the afternoon sun started to flex its muscle and we decided to call the site good and get out of the open field back to our car!
